How to Save an Instagram Post as a Draft on Any Device

You save an Instagram post as a draft by building the post until you reach the caption screen, tapping the back arrow, and choosing Save draft when Instagram asks whether to discard or keep it. The draft keeps your photo or video, the crop, the filter, any edits, the caption you had written, tagged accounts and the location, and it waits for you under a Drafts heading the next time you tap the plus button. Reels work the same way and can also be reopened from the reels tab on your profile. Two things are worth knowing before you rely on drafts: a draft is stored on the phone that made it rather than in your Instagram account, and a draft is not the same as a scheduled post, because nothing publishes on its own. This page covers the exact steps for posts, reels and stories, what a draft does not preserve, and when scheduling is the better tool.

The steps for a feed post

Tap the plus button, pick your photo or video, crop and filter it, then continue to the screen where you write the caption. Tap the back arrow at the top of that screen and Instagram asks whether to discard the post or save it as a draft. Choose Save draft.

Do the fiddly work before you back out, because everything you finished is what gets kept. The crop, the filter, the tagged accounts, the alt text and any partly written caption all survive, so reopening the draft is a matter of finishing rather than starting again.

To reopen it, tap the plus button as if making a new post. Saved drafts sit at the top of the gallery screen under a Drafts heading, with a Manage or See all option when there is more than one. Tapping a draft loads it exactly as you left it.

The steps for a reel and for a story

For a reel, build the video, add your clips, audio, text and effects, then tap the back arrow from the final screen and choose Save draft. Reel drafts appear under the Drafts heading on the create screen and also at the front of the reels tab on your own profile, which is quicker when you have several waiting.

Stories are handled separately. On a story you are building, backing out offers to save it to your story drafts, and Instagram keeps those in a separate place from post and reel drafts. Story drafts are a newer feature and behave slightly differently between app versions, so check both the create screen and the story camera if one is missing.

Nothing published from a draft looks different to anybody else. A post that sat as a draft for a week is indistinguishable from one posted immediately, and Instagram attaches no penalty or label to it.

For the draft you just published

100 is the floor for saves. One small order against one post, with no sign-up and nothing that repeats next month.

What a draft keeps, and what it does not

A draft keeps the media, the edits applied inside Instagram, the caption text, tagged accounts, the location and the alt text. That covers almost everything you can set before the final Share step, which is why drafting after doing the editing is worth the habit.

A draft does not keep anything decided at the moment of publishing. Advanced settings toggled on the last screen, cross-posting choices to other apps, and any music you selected can all be dropped or reset when the draft reopens, so check those before hitting Share.

A draft is also not a backup. It is stored on the device that created it rather than in your Instagram account, so logging out, reinstalling or clearing the app usually removes it, and it never appears on another phone. Keeping the edited file in your camera roll and the caption in a note is the only reliable copy.

Drafts are not scheduled posts

A draft waits for you to publish it; a scheduled post publishes itself at a time you set. They solve different problems, and confusing them is the most common reason somebody finds a post sitting unpublished the morning after they expected it live.

Scheduling inside Instagram is available on professional accounts, which means the creator or business type, and both are free to switch to in Settings. On a scheduled post the last screen offers a date and time, and the post appears in your scheduled content list until it goes out.

Meta Business Suite on a desktop does the same job with a calendar view, which is easier when you are planning a fortnight at once. Drafts remain useful for posts whose timing depends on something you do not know yet, and scheduling is better for anything with a fixed date.

For a carousel worth keeping

Five hundred saves suits a checklist or how-to post people would genuinely return to. Delivered within 0 to 24 hours.

Using drafts to keep posting consistently

The strongest use of drafts is batching: editing four or five posts in one sitting so that publishing later takes thirty seconds. Falling out of a posting rhythm is what quietly reduces reach on most accounts, and a small stock of finished drafts is the simplest defence against it.

Write captions at drafting time rather than at posting time. A caption written calmly two days early is almost always better than one typed while the upload spinner turns, and it is the part of a post most often rushed.

Keep the queue short. Three or four ready drafts is a useful buffer; twenty is a source of guilt, and Instagram content ages quickly enough that half of them will feel stale before you get to them.

Drafts, saved posts and the archive are three different features

A draft is your own unpublished post, stored on your phone, visible to nobody but you, and producing no numbers because it has never been public.

A saved post is somebody else's published post that you bookmarked with the icon underneath it. Those live in your account, sync across your devices, and count towards the saves figure in that poster's insights. Saving somebody's post has nothing to do with drafting your own.

The archive holds posts you published and then hid. They keep their likes, comments and insights and can be restored to your grid at any time. A draft has never been public, so there is nothing to restore and no history attached to it.

What Instagram saves are worth once you publish

A save is the bookmark somebody taps under your published post, and it is counted in your insights as one of the strongest signals a post can produce. It means a viewer decided to come back to the post rather than react and move on, and content people return to tends to keep circulating for longer.

Posts that earn saves have a shape you can copy. Checklists, recipes, prices, measurements, step-by-step carousels and anything somebody would want in front of them later all collect saves. A good-looking photo with nothing to come back for rarely does, whatever its like count.

Buying saves adds that bookmark action to a post you nominate, with a minimum order of 100. It raises the saves figure and the signal that goes with it. It does not add followers, and it does not make Instagram push the post further, which is worth saying plainly because plenty of suppliers imply otherwise.

Ordering saves here, and the honest limits

InstaBoost is a UK service selling Instagram saves, shares, likes, followers, reel views, story views and reposts, priced in pounds with PayPal checkout. Saves are ordered against the link to a published post or reel, so a draft cannot be ordered against until you publish it and it has a link.

There is no account to create and no sign-up. Paste the link, choose a quantity from 100 upwards, and pay in pounds through PayPal. No password, login code or app permission is ever requested. Delivery starts within minutes of payment clearing and orders complete within 0 to 24 hours.

The account must be public for delivery to reach a post, and it has to stay public while the order runs. Some drop is possible on any bought engagement, because Instagram removes accounts it judges inauthentic in periodic sweeps, and every order carries a 30-day refill covering a shortfall inside that window. We do not sell free saves, free trials or free followers.

Questions people ask before ordering

How do I save an Instagram post as a draft?

Build the post until you reach the caption screen, tap the back arrow at the top, and choose Save draft when Instagram asks whether to discard it. The draft keeps your media, crop, filter, caption, tagged accounts and location. Reopen it by tapping the plus button and looking under the Drafts heading.

Does an Instagram draft keep my caption?

Yes. A draft keeps the caption you had written, along with the media, edits, filter, tagged accounts, location and alt text. What it does not reliably keep is anything decided on the final screen, such as advanced settings, cross-posting choices or selected music, so check those before you publish.

Is a draft the same as scheduling a post?

No. A draft waits for you to publish it and nothing happens on its own. Scheduling publishes the post automatically at a time you set, and it is available on professional accounts, meaning the creator or business type. Use drafts when the timing is undecided and scheduling when the date is fixed.

Where do I find my Instagram drafts?

Tap the plus button to start a new post and look at the top of the gallery screen, where saved drafts sit under a Drafts heading. Reel drafts also appear at the front of the reels tab on your own profile. Story drafts are kept separately, on the story camera or create screen depending on your app version.

Do Instagram drafts get deleted?

Drafts are stored on the device that created them, not in your Instagram account, so logging out, reinstalling or clearing the app usually removes them. They never appear on a second phone or on the web. If a post matters, save the edited file to your camera roll and keep the caption in a note.

Can I buy saves for a draft post?

No. Saves are ordered against the link to a published post or reel, and a draft has no link until it goes live. Publish the post first, then paste its link into the order form. The minimum saves order is 100.

How fast do bought Instagram saves arrive?

Delivery starts within minutes of payment clearing and orders complete within 0 to 24 hours. Every order carries a 30-day refill covering a shortfall inside that window. The account must be public for the whole time the order runs, because a private profile hides the post from anyone who does not already follow you.
